Character Exploration: Archetype Work using the Choice Approach: SUBPERSONALITY with Actress Liezel Lopez
Child-Actors are capable of articulating their feelings, especially when they are encouraged to do so. This is Ethan's first time doing Craftwork with a monologue. Ethan is a product of Sparkle Prime Workshop in September 2023.
The Exploration of Basic Archetypes. How do you see the world through these lenses? How does your psychology, your body, your mannerisms, your rhythm, your thinking pattern and values change? The Actors have been exploring basic archetypes such as the Perfectionist, the Judge, the Victim, the Drama Queen, the Pleaser, the Paranoid, the Nerd, the Pollyana and many more. I'm so proud of how committed they are to not judge the experience, to enjoy and actually see the world through these different archetypes.
Both actors Aidan Veneracion and Luis Hontiveros are busy in their respective shows. Both of them wanted to explore relationships that were FAR from the roles they were currently portraying now. So I said, do you want to be challenged? And they both said, YES.
The Scene Work is between 2 gay men in a toxic relationship.
In our work culture, the Actors’ preparation time before getting into a series, especially short drama specials, more often than not, is very short. With this predicament, how do you instill discipline to young Actors to be very economical and smart with their prep and process? As Eric Morris said, 95% is preparation. Paano mo didiskartehan ang prep work mo? Scene Parallel Work: The Actors are RANDOMLY partnered. They are given an extremely short amount of time (5-10 minutes) to work on their relationship responsibility and obligation, to create history between them while staying Instrumentally free and in the moment.
In today’s Fundamentals Class, we worked a whole lot on relationship responsibility and obligation, so it was a drill on emotions like jealousy, resentment, attraction, restraint, hurt, gratitude, guilt and joy— using only Available Stimulus and Evocative Words as their Choice Approaches.
